Celebrating California's Musical Legends

Welcome to the California Music Hall of Fame! Here at the CMHOF we celebrate all the musical legends that have both lived in AND created/performed music in the Golden State. For specific details about the induction criteria, please see below.

California has been home to some of the greatest musical talent the country, and the world, has ever seen, including stars like:

Van Halen, John Fogerty, the Beach Boys, Los Lobos, Stevie Nicks, Green Day, Metallica, Guns ‘n Roses, the Doors, the Eagles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ritchie Valens, Journey, Grateful Dead, and MANY more!

From Palm Springs to San Francisco to East LA, and everywhere in-between, the CMHOF aims to honor and promote the best of the best that have come out of our home state.

Criteria for the Hall:

The California Music Hall of Fame seeks to honor those special musical acts/artists who have a very strong connection to California in particular. We generally are focusing on the following genres of music:

Rock (all kinds- from 1955 through today) Metal R&B / Soul / Motown Country Hip Hop/ Rap

To qualify for inclusion into the CMHOF an artist or act/band must:

1. Have lived in California for at least 20 years AND

2. Recorded at least 2 albums in California AND

3. Performed live (publicly) in California at least 5 times

Essentially, persons have to have been a key and longtime part of the California music scene. We also value artists that have had significant national, worldwide, and chart success, in addition to merely being from California.
